MAY 6th, GRETEL EHRLICH TO RECEIVE THOREAU PRIZE

The Henry David Thoreau Prize
for Literary Excellence in Nature Writing

PEN New England will present this year's prize to author Gretel Ehrlich in recognition of her exceptional talents as a nature writer who so artfully expresses the grandeur and loneliness of natural settings. Ms. Ehrlich will speak on the subject of "Writing About Nature" and, after her talk and questions from the audience, she will be presented with the Thoreau Prize.

Reception follows in the Harvard Museum of Natural History, 26 Oxford Street...

HEATHER JESSEN for her picture book, I Won A Robot in a Raffle
BETTE ANNE RIETH for her young adult novel, Greetings from the Miracle
LINDA ZAJAC for her non-fiction book, Ice Birds in a Warming Land

The winning manuscripts, chosen by the Children's Book Committee, will be read by editors from Candlewick, Houghton Mifflin and Knopf Books for Young Readers.
