Barbara Helfgott Hyett Reads at Hotel Marlowe

Barbara Helfgott Hyett will be reading from her new book of poems, Rift, about which Maxine Kumin wrote: "Helfgott Hyett’s poems about love, infidelity and the body in all its guises are tough, tender, and juicy." Barbara is the author of four previous collections of poetry: The Tracks We Leave: Poems on Endangered Wildlife of North America, The Double Reckoning of Christopher Columbus, Natural Law, and In Evidence: Poems of the Liberation of Nazi Concentration Camps.

Co-founder of the Writer's Room of Boston, she is currently the director of POEMWORKS: The Workshop for Publishing Poets, noted as "One of the Best Workshops in Boston" by the Boston Globe. She has taught at MIT, Harvard, and Boston University where she won the Sproat Award for the best teaching in English, and is the winner of many prizes and awards for her writing. She also works as a visiting poet in public and private schools, museums, and universities across the United States.

Porter Square Books will be selling books at this reading.

The Hotel Marlowe is located at 25 Edwin H. Land Boulevard, Cambridge. Inexpensive parking is available in the Cambridgeside Galleria garage with direct entry into the hotel from Levels A and C. The hotel is closest to the Lechmere T-stop, and is within walking distance of Charles and Kendall Square.
