Call for "Friend to Writer" Nominations

PEN New England welcomes your nominations for our 2007 "Friend to Writers" award.

Every year, we choose a "Friend to Writers" and honor them at our annual Book Party in September (date, place and time to be announced soon). This award is given to an individual living in New England who has enriched their literary community and helped writers in some significant way.

Previous winners have included Bernard Margolis of the BPL; Tim Huggins, founder of Newtonville Books; Don Lee, writer and past editor of Ploughshares; teacher Monroe Engel; and Askold Melnyczuk, writer and founder of AGNI.

Please send in your nomination by August15th, with a paragraph describing the nominee, to:

All nominations will be kept confidential; the winner will be decided by the PEN New England Board.

The 2005 Call for Entries for the annual Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award are now underway. The postmark deadline is December 9, 2005. For full details, and to download an entry form, visit the Awards section.

Details about this year's L. L. Winship/PEN New England Award, including entry requirements and an entry form, will be available in November.
